Commissioned by Warwick University we designed and delivered an innovation and collaboration workshop in Almaty, Kazakhstan. The workshop brought together researchers and business leaders from the UK, Kazakhstan and linked countries to develop collaboration around forecasting, decision making and response to flooding in Kazakhstan.
The workshop was designed to maximize collaboration and specifically explore the Kazakh delegates knowledge about the 'in-country' problems and opportunities.
The UK delegation we invited with its blend of research, commercial, public and private sector expertise was key to gaining a rounded understanding of the research and operational needs on emergency management. New partnerships were formed which will underpin collaboration on projects and business ventures for years to come.
Back in the UK, a new team turned the outputs of the workshop into a collaborative bid into the Research Councils Global Challenges Research Fund.
